To the citizens of Flathead County, Montana:

This website documents what I believe are serious deficiencies in how Flathead County enforces its Community Decay ordinance and responds to citizen complaints. After five years, my Community Decay Violation Complaint MCD-21-26 remains unresolved despite multiple requests for action and communications with county officials.

I encourage visitors to First read the narrative found in the website page titled ‘The Story‘ that shows the history and timeline of my complaint. Second, read the ‘Stonewall Scoreboard‘ page that documents instances where I requested responses from county officials and did not receive them. Third, read the “Voter Guide” page which is important going forward.

Community Decay at 5609/5611 US Hwy 2 West, Columbia Falls, Mt 59912

Background: In 2021, I filed a complaint under Flathead County’s Community Decay Ordinance No. 6 regarding accumulated junk vehicles and materials on commercial properties along US Highway 2. Despite the ordinance requiring timely enforcement, the complaint has remained unresolved for over five years. During this time, I have documented what I believe are procedural failures, non-responses to public records requests, and a pattern of county offices declining to take responsibility for enforcement. This website presents a chronological timeline of events, copies of correspondence, and my analysis of whether county procedures comply with Montana law.

After the violation was closed in 2023 without explanation and that I considered flawed, I refiled it in 2024. After five years the Community Decay Violation is yet to be cleaned up and closed by the P&Z Office and the property remains mostly the same as in 2021 and years before.

Note: All statements on this website are based on documents I possess or communications in which I participated. For full legal disclaimers, see “The Story” page.
